Monday Work Outfit - Staying Warm With A Sweater Coat

February 11, 2018

We have a little more than four weeks to go before we start seeing the signs of Spring. By March, almost everyone is ready to put away their heavy coats and jackets. Unfortunately for many people, they won't feel any heatwave until late May. With that in mind, I created this work-friendly look (we had some 50-degree weather), that was warm enough to commute but without the assistance of a heavy coat. This look will be perfect for those first days of Spring when the weather is still chilly but not literally freezing cold.

Having a sweater coat or a maxi cardigan in our wardrobes is a clever idea if you want to take a break from rigid coats and feel a little bit lighter and yet warm.
My new (Italian/vintage find from work) sweater coat is oversized, so it was the perfect frame for garments with simple silhouettes of fun colors and prints. My pants and scarf were a fabulous pop of color, but in order to keep them shining without competition, I wore them with a blouse and shoes with quiet hues.

For this Monday Work Outfit, I opted for carrying a white bag because I wanted it to match my sweater coat to the point of becoming almost invisible and with harmony with the rest of the look.
As you can see, this ensemble is fun, cozy, easy to wear and yet, work-appropriate. If your days require more layering, you always can wear a fitted blazer under the sweater coat for extra warmth.

In case you didn't know, today is my 47th birthday 🎉 and for the first time, I will stay in town and at home all day. I've decided to spend a quiet birthday doing yoga, meditating, praying and eating my gluten-free upside-down pineapple cake which by the way, was made to order by a local bakery in town. I'm very excited about welcoming my new age with a peaceful state of mind.

WHAT I WORE:
Sweater coat: Vintage/Pumps: Christian Louboutin/Pants: Banana Republic/Blouse: Equipment/Bag: Mansur Gavriel/Scarf: Vintage.

THANKS FOR VISITING! 💼
