Mixed Plaids And No Heels For Monday Work Outfit

Plaid Blazer Street Style

Plaid has always been an office-approved print and mainly when it comes in muted colors. I love checkered prints and I believe they look even better when mixed with other patterns including plaid. Obviously, that is the maximalist side of me speaking.
Today for my "Monday Work Outfit" I styled my amazing glen plaid blazer with a heritage-style plaid, such as tartan. For an office-friendly outfit, a mix of plaids can be a good idea, however, it's important to keep the look balanced. For example, finding two different plaids within the same hue (preferably in neutral colors) helps to keep the look more harmonized. If you love a pop of color as I do, pairing this type of combo with a bright garment can help break the patterns up in a fun way. That being said, if mixing patterns is enough of a statement for you, then a white or black blouse could also make an outfit like this look very chic.

I'm a big fan of wearing heels in general, however, I also believe that you can look very polished with flat shoes as well. If you are petite like me, I'm sure you have had doubts about whether you will look stumpy wearing flats with ensembles like this. Good news!! If you didn't know, midi skirts are the perfect garments for the vertically-challenged gals - they make us look taller, therefore, we can get away with wearing flats even in corporate settings. When wearing flats at the office, consider classic, powerful, structured styles such as men-inspired loafers or brogues.
