My dear readers, as I promised on a previous post here is my recap from my first wedding anniversary celebration in Colorado.
Let's start by saying that I'm not going to attempt to do a Colorado travel guide type of post. Despite spending seven wonderful days there, I wouldn't know where to start. So I'll just leave that task to travel blogs. One thing I can tell you is that this vacation was 90% outdoors and very little fashion or shopping was involved. I managed to stay away from blogging, however, I was able to give updates to my Instagram family through Instastories.
As soon we arrived at Denver International Airport, we headed to our first Airbnb in the Boulder area. We stayed in a beautiful cabin located in Sunshine Canyon. We had a terrific view of the mountains and the surroundings were more beautiful than expected. On the third day, we moved to another Airbnb located closer to downtown Boulder, and again, we had a terrific location and service.
During the first three days of our vacation, we visited Garden Of The Gods, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Pikes Peak. We also visited small towns around the area on our way back from all these must-see places and hikes. Every night we ended up in downtown Boulder, on Pearl Street, pretty much enjoying local brews and the cool and hipster environment of Boulder.
Pikes Peak and Garden Of the Gods are gorgeous but huge parks, so you really need several days to explore their trails. My husband lived in Colorado for 6 years, therefore, he made sure I saw at least some of the most recognized areas in the area.
The fourth day, which was the actual date of our first wedding anniversary, we decided to drive to Aspen and spend one night there. While driving to Aspen, we drove through the most beautiful highway surrounded with canyons and the White River. It would be difficult not to love this area; everything you see is more than beautiful...it's amazing. We also stopped by two adorable and breathtaking towns called Frisco and Breckenridge. I tell you what, if we didn't have plans already made in Aspen, I would have stayed in either town.
Once in Aspen, we were welcomed by the cutest Airbnb cottage located with only a short walking distance to downtown Aspen.
The few photos below are from one of the places we stayed on our vacation. It had beautiful views and our hosts were very informative. The second morning, as soon I opened my eyes, I saw two adorable mule deer peeking into our bedroom window. I immediately grabbed my phone and I recorded a video and I also snapped the second photo below.
While in Aspen, we visited the John Denver Sanctuary gardens. The view from there is so pretty because, as you can see, the mountains still have a little bit of snow on them.
The entire time spent in the outdoors, I dressed sporty and comfortable. We did a lot of walking, therefore, it was important for me to always have the best shoes for the task. I want to thank Travel Fox North America for gifting me with these cool red sneakers, which I wore while visiting the gardens.
After spending a great time in the Aspen outdoors and also a little bit of shopping, we headed out to Denver, to visit my husband's niece and also to see a baseball game.
My entire week in Colorado was more than amazing, and as you know, words and photos can't give justice what your eyes see while you are on vacation. I know there is so much to see in Colorado...in fact, we didn't visit a couple of state parks because certain roads were closed that week. Next time we go there, we will go during summer so we can see southwest part of the state.
