Outfit With Neutral Colors And A Fun Shoe Makeover

I've noticed that little by little, I'm leaning more toward neutral colors. I've learned that dressing fun doesn't always have to involve color. But please don't get me wrong; I still love my colorful statement pieces (mainly my colorful coats), because when paired with neutrals, they can bring an interesting contrast.
Stocking your wardrobe with pieces in neutral colors is a wise idea because these pieces are so much more versatile, mainly when acquired in classic shapes. I have a small wardrobe, a successful small wardrobe that is, and in order to keep it that way, versatility should continue being a strong priority.

WHAT I WORE:

Houndstooth coat: Vintage. Similar/Silk shirt: Equipment (on sale right now)/Boyfriend jeans: Paige. Similar/Shoes: Christian Louboutin. Very similar/Bucket bag: Mansur Gavriel/Sunglasses: Ray-Ban (vintage). Similar/Flap cap:Vintage. Similar.

Here my favorite facts why I'm loving neutrals:

1. Neutral colors allow me to play with silhouettes, prints, textures, layers and styles at once without looking overwhelming.

2. I can get more mileage out of neutral colored garments and this is huge for someone like me that's always on a budget.

3. With neutral colored garments, I can manage to look polished even when I'm wearing vintage, thrift or less expensive clothes.

4. Having enough neutral colored items helps me to make more combinations with colorful pieces.

By the way, the shoes I'm wearing today came with their patent leather strap, however, I wanted to change the look of them, by removing the straps and replacing it with cute satin packaging ribbons. I usually save all the beautiful ribbons that I get with my fashion packagings and simply because I love the way can be reused for wrapping gifts or for fashion. The ones I'm wearing today were part of a beautiful wrapping that came with a pair of Louboutin Shoes.

If you follow my InstaStories on Instagram, you know that I was in Michigan for a week visiting my husband's family. Every time I go there, I end up finding great deals on vintage clothes. My sweet husband is always searching for vintage and pre-loved places for me to shop in the Grand Rapids and Ane Arbor areas. However, this time, my sister-in-law was the one that took me to a few hidden gems where I scored big time. I was so lucky to find not only one gray vintage coat but two at a very affordable price.
I'm so tickled with these finds because I've been searching for a really long gray coat and a long fur coat. So far, I haven't found the perfect fur long coat at the right price, but for now, I'm more than satisfied with my two versatile gray coats. I love the tiny houndstooth print in this one and the elegant style and I also love that it fits me like a glove because it was made for petite women.
