The Bermuda shorts I'm wearing used to be a pair of cropped flared jeans. I wasn't totally convinced about their overall fit, therefore, the chance for them to end up in the back of my wardrobe, was high.
I had to do something about it in order to make them more appealing to me. Thankfully denim is very easy to customize, so the transformation was done in a blink of an eye.
Now, as you can see, they not only became a fun garment to wear around summer hot days. Due to their length, I'm also able to style them nicely with a pair of knee boots for a cold day. This look can also be achieved with shorter Bermuda shorts and over-the-knee boots.
You probably don't see Bermuda shorts styled with knee-high boots too often and I completely understand why. Just the fact that shorts, in general, are made for wearing in warm weather, doesn't help us to think beyond that purpose. As soon the weather starts getting a bit cold, these type of garments immediately get replaced by the "appropriate" ones.
But this is a big mistake that sometimes we make that prevent us from making our wardrobe year-round functional and it also prevents us from creating fun and juxtaposed combinations.
WHAT I WORE:
Peacoat: Loft. Similar/Puffer vest: Patagonia/Sweater: Gap. Similar/Bermuda shorts: Zara. Similar/Messenger bag: Coach (vintage). Similar/Boots: Manolo Blahnik. Similar/Sunglasses: Ray-Ban/Fur gloves: Vintage. Similar.
Another styling idea that I applied to this look was the puffer vest. This garment is usually worn with casual and sporty ensembles, however, back in December of 2013, I started introducing this vest to dressier looks.

THANKS FOR VISITING! 😊
Thanks! I was very happy when I found these jeans. As you said, they are perfect. By the way, so far so good wearing socks with open heels. I don't have problems with my feet slipping off my shoes, but maybe is because the cotton in the fabric helps with the grip. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGracias, chica! La verdad es que esta divertida.
