How I Wore My Culottes

Today, I don't know if I want to point out my mixed patterns, my color combo or my volume bonanza going on. Well, lets start talking about my pants and we'll go from there.

Culottes are the most popular pants right now, and when paired with the right tops and flattering shoes they can compliment anyone. I'm 5'4" tall, therefore, culottes with heels are my best bet, however, I don't mind wearing them with flats as well.

Today, I'm sporting for the first time a pair of culottes that really caught my attention. They're not only a pair of culottes - they're vertically striped culottes, which as we all know is the perfect pattern for making us look taller and even slimmer. After I bought these pants, I tried them with with some of my boxy tops and they looked immediately flattering...and this is the way they're expected to be worn most of the times. As an emotional dresser, I don't always follow tendencies or rules in my outfits, and as you can see, instead of pairing my pants with a simple boxy top, I decided to play with volume by wearing them with a oversized open blouse.

In this look, I could have chosen to wear solid colored pieces in order to let the pants stand out, but instead, I put on a polka dot flowy top to even make the look more interesting.

Chances are that we've heard that wearing black with navy is a big no-no. Well, little did they know is that it's actually one of the most elegant and reliable combos there are. My main pieces are printed with navy and white and I intentionally chose to pair them with black in order to bring more elegance to this nautical duo.
