Floral prints tend to give a message of softness and girliness and that's exactly the look that many women like to steer away from at the office. I personally don't mind transmitting my femininity with my clothes, regardless of the occasion. In fact, I don't think that you need to look like a man from head to toe at the office in order to be treated seriously and receive esteem from your peers. At the end of the day, your attitude toward work, acknowledge, achievements, and competitiveness happens to be some of the qualities that are going to help you to get the respect you deserve at work. Appearing is very important but isn't everything.
Honoring your personality when dressing up for work should always be considered. That being said, balance is the key word for many things in life including dressing for the office.
For instance, I love florals and I could easily wear two or three different floral printed clothing at once, however, that is probably too much for a professional look.
For an office-friendly ensemble, I styled this floral dress with neutral colored pieces in order to create a cleaner look. If you noticed, I still got away with expressing my personality and yet look professional-like by wearing botanical jewelry that complimented the dress such as my floral earrings and my new bamboo-shaped choker.
If your style is more minimalist and bling isn't your thing, you can always wear pearl stud earrings, a daintier necklace, and a simpler belt.
Overall, here are my favorite and helpful tips for wearing florals to work:
1- To add a polished and yet professional look to floral patterns, pair them with structured and solid colored pieces only. And...
2. Not all floral garments are created equal. There are some floral prints that seem to be much more suitable for the office than others. I personally believe that small florals mainly with darker backgrounds are more professional and versatile. Loud or large florals are best to leave them for the weekend or your day off.
Last month, I started a new tag named "Monday Work Outfit". If you want to have a quick access to the looks under this tag, just go the top of the blog and find it inside the "Outfits" tab. I will try my best to post a couple of work-appropriate looks per month. I hope you can find them useful.
